You Belong in Fall

Intelligent, introspective, and quite expressive at times...

You appreciate the changes in color, climate, and mood that fall brings

Whether you're carving wacky pumpkins or taking long drives, autumn is a favorite time of year for you

I just came across this while reading LOWA's blog, Muddled Ponderings of a Canadian Trapped in the States Try it. It costs nothing and you might learn something. Let me know which season you are.

Pamela I just finished reading your blog and was going to comment but with so many comments I just felt this was a better place to do it. If you want to read a humorous blog go to THE DUST WILL WAIT You will be glad you did 'cause Pam is a hoot. She is a "Shorty" "Wayne Newton" type, I think.

I miss my pal, Foam.

Just got back from spending two days at a regional track meet. The first day the wind blew and blew and blew and it was not warm. The second day was calm and very warm. Hard to keep me pleased. The kids did very well and it looks like I will be taking a bus load to Boise, ID for the state meet next week... and then the year ends for me.

Eric, my wife about had a fit when I showed her that rat at McDonald's. Now I find myself looking up above any marquee to see what might be scurrying around. I would take the deer over the rat any day.

Isn't this just like a woman? I have been gone for two days and Cheryl has missed me soooooooo much but what is she doing? She is packing up and leaving to spend some time with our daughters. Who is going to take care of me?

Here is something I picked up while reading a genealogy newsletter. Thought all of you might enjoy it... I sure did.

The Cup of Chocolate

A group of graduates, well established in their careers, were talking at a reunion and decided to go visit their old university professor, now retired. During their visit, the conversation turned to complaints about stress in their work and lives.

Offering his guests hot chocolate, the professor went into the kitchen and returned with a large pot of hot chocolate and an assortment of cups - porcelain, glass, crystal, some plain looking, some expensive, some exquisite - telling them to help themselves to the hot chocolate.

When they all had a cup of hot chocolate in hand, the professor said: 'Notice that all the nice looking, expensive cups were taken, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones. While it is normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress.

The cup that you're drinking from adds nothing to the quality of the hot chocolate. In most cases it is just more expensive and in some cases even hides what we drink.

What all of you really wanted was hot chocolate, not the cup; but you consciously went for the best cups... And then you began eyeing each other's cups.

Now consider this: Life is the hot chocolate; your job, money and position in society are the cups. They are just tools to hold and contain life. The cup you have does not define, nor change the quality of life you have.

Sometimes, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the hot chocolate God has provided us. God makes the hot chocolate, man chooses the cups. The happiest people don't have the best of everything. They just make the best of everything that they have.

Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. And enjoy your hot chocolate.

Have a nice day everyone.

Wow, this was AMAZING. I loved it and would love to write it down and remember it.

Fall is almost as good as winter:) What about your Native American name?? In Canada we call them "First Nations" since they were there first. And most of my younger siblings were of First Nation Heritage. In fact, the people who adopted my mother when her mother died giving birth to her, were First Nations. I don't mean to be racist and bring up differences as I think we are all equal, but I do have a special place in my heart for "First Nations" or "Native Americans". I would be curious to know what you and Cheryl's names were:)
